    Question about everyone's QT

Keep a sponge filter in your sump and leave the qt empty and dry when your not using it. After the sponge has been in the dt's sump for 6 weeks it will be ready. When you need a qt just use the established filter from your sump and some tank water or new water to set it up. I always keep a...

Coral Dip - best brand to use?

RPS All Out claims that it kills aefw eggs. I don't know if it really kills them all or not because I haven't had them to test it.

Coral Dip - best brand to use?

I think I have a decent method to avoid pests. I first peel the coral off the plug, if it won't come off cleanly I remove as much of the plug/rock as possible with bone cutters/chisel. I inspect it well under magnification and clean anything that looks suspicious. After that I acclimate them I...

How do I get rid of this macro? (photo)

If it's only on the one rock and it's small enough you can dip it for 5 min in a 25% hydrogen peroxide 75% tank water solution. It will kill all types of algae. Zoa, paly, and some nps are the only types of corals you can safely dip in H2O2, they will pout for a couple of days but I've only had...

The Uprades are real.. Aww snap.. 6x39w everyone = ) Check me out

The only thing I don't like about that light is it doesn't have a reflector for each bulb it has one for each 2. You lose a lot of your efficiency without the individual reflectors for each bulb.

Who said free can't be a good thing?

You could use 3 of the holes for a bean animal style overflow and the fourth for the return.

    ID please

Definitely protopaly, I have the exact same thing in my tank. They spread quickly and are difficult to remove if you let the colony get big. If it were me I would pull the rock and chip it out with a hammer and screwdriver while it's small. I wish I had done that with the huge colony of them I...

I Think chalices have some of the best color of any corals. These are not mine, they were taken by a friend of his tank.

Catching fish, trap? spear gun? hook? lol

I would say your best chance is a tiny fishhook, you can remove the barb if you want. I've caught many different types of fish with hooks, the key is to make the food on the hook mix in with the rest of the food when you feed and the food on the hook should be the same size and type as the rest...

    Tank Height, Shallow Vs Tall

For me I would never even consider a tank deeper that 24" again. I had a 30" deep tank for awhile and it was very frustrating not beeing able to reach the bottom. I would say as long as you can reach the bottom most places in the tank it isn't too deep.

What is this equipment and how do I use it?!

+1 on getting new bulkheads. That is a Durso style standpipe http://www.dursostandpipes.com/ has a description of how it works and how to assemble one. Basically the water flows from the tank through the piece with the grate on it down through the bulkhead and into the sump then you have a pump...
