    MH Ballast, now wat?

Those plugs are purposely done like that, proprietary so you don't screw up and plug in the wrong cords, nothing wrong with these. You do need to run the same wattage they are rated for. All you need now is the mogul socket, reflector and bulb to make the retro complete! If you don't have these...

    Dead Rock Question

Boomer once told me to use some of this stuff before you put it back in your tank after a good bleaching, I think I left the rocks in a few days so after rinsing lots I used it. This is very cheap and just a little extra to help stabilize it. It is called AmQuel, you can pick it up almost any...

    Dead Rock Question

Bleach will be harmless if cleaned properly, soak in about two gallons water to 1 1/2 cups, mix well. Then after a night, rinse well, clean off rock as you can then soak in clean water a few days, you can even boil before then soak it.

    Dead Rock Question

You can soak it in bleach and water a few days just in a small bucket, or boil it in water a while to purge it throughly. Rinse and soak over night before using. Should be good as new once it gains some life in it!

    New Horizons

RTV 108 is GE's official Aquarium Safe sealant, they had to remove aquarium safe from the GE silicone I because other manufactures were supplying sealant also & something to do with conflicts in business. This was from two GE reps. a friend discussed this throughly with them a while back. That...

    R/O Water Sales?

Can you find Distilled water at your local store? Distilled depending on the process it is usually as good if not better than RO/DI. Over time though I still consider a RO/DI unit one of the most important pieces of equipment one should first get.

    New RSM owner

No I replaced the skimmer with an Aqua-C hang on & fixing to upgrade that to even a better one. I replace large water volumes at once, but I'd leave that idea to the more experienced because if not done right could cause major issues. Follow the link reefmack was talking about, lots of good...

    New RSM owner

I wouldn't use any of the media they supply with the unit. having to remove the little ph's is a pain & on the other side a detritus trap. Without anything it should clear up after a while. JMO!

    How long can you go

I change about 70% once a month in my small tank. Not necessary the best option but the time I need to vacuum out & suck up much takes about that much water. What most people do is weekly wc's, 5%/10% & every so often do a through cleaning. Husbandry is something that you shouldn't take lightly...

    first case of ick

Lee's suggestions are the best I've seen, he has all the information you will need. there is no fast easy cure, these usually cause too much stressors & kill the fish. QT is always very important when keeping a reef tank.
