Looks good! I'm not sure that I've ever seen the corner style tank before... I like it. Are you actually in Hawaii?

Sweet! those are some healthy and green looking GSPs!!! I think I want some now!

Just curious..totally just looking around for info...what made you go with the thinner sand bed?

Thanks, Thanks, Thanks...

I love this corner tank but its hard to easily clean the front glass. I've accumulated many scratches over the years.

1reefer - I'm not in hawaii but I would if it weren't so isolated. Actually, I'm a FL boy.

tangerine - i thought the gsp was pretty plain until I saw them under the blue lights. big difference. I went with a thinner sand bed because I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to be a barebottom (bb) tank or not. So I kept it somewhat thin to be able to take it all out for a quick rinse if needed. Not sure that's ideal but that's what I've been doing.

I got my first ZOA and sponge yesterday. A LFS had 20% off livestock and I couldn't resist. I"ll post a picture maybe tomorrow.

Wow... The site has totally changed since I've been here last.

Tank is doing well. I have since acquired more goodies and also got to do some more rockscaping for the new additions. I wanted to post a picture but a little cleaning today it became a small dust storm. One thing I have noticed are some white little critters that are mainly on my mushrooms. I'm not sure I've seen those before.

Here is the updated full tank shot as of today. Out of all the new additions I think my favorite addition is my Nikkon D3100. Now I can take high resolution crappy shots! I need to get a site to put high res pictures on so I can link them to here.

I"ll have to take some close ups one I clean the glass but here are a few of the things added:
Orange Sponge
hammer/frogspawn coral (mid left)
torch coral (mid right)
toadstool leather (mid right by xenia)
ricordea
zoanthids (lower mid by mushrooms)

The green star polyps have grown quite well and I'm shipping out the rock that someone gave me to another friend. I think I'm starting to like fragging as the only thing that I bought was the sponge.

Thanks! You're not kidding! The last picture was after my former light died and I added the T5's. I used to clean the back walls but I'm almost on a cleaning strike until my next tank. I love the curved front glass but its a pain to clean if you're not on a good routine.

Just a few days since my last entry..... Tank seems to be collecting hair algae and slime so I replaced my powerheads as the coraline algea completely closed up the intake grates. Now it looks like I need to replace my mag drive as one of the sides has swelled out and probably will die soon. This has to be one of my problems as it doesn't seem to be pushing as much water anymore.

Wondering if I should replace it with the same model or is there something better? My Mag12 was running for 7 years with no problems.... Might be a good idea to buy the same so I'll have an extra impeller....

I own the smaller version of this tank the 54 corner, and it has been by far my favorite reef tank, easy to maintain and clean. The only downfall is the amount of space in the stand for filtration. But oh well.

Wai- The best advice I can give you, and I do realize this post is almost a year old, is to use a credit card (library card, casino players club card, etc.)on the curved glass. Its the best, safest way to scrape algae off your glass with no scratches. Hope the tank is still looking great!

Final update on this tank.

We are moving so we have dismantled the tank. All the inhabitants now have a new forever home. Looking forward to plan our new tank once our house is built. Most likely won't be a curved glass tank of any kind. Ran across the Red Sea tanks today and they look interesting but pricey. I imagine these tanks will take most of the fun out of planning the design.
