Wow, I always thought my 250 was reasonably priced, verging slightly on overpriced but now it has never felt like such a BARGAIN! lol

that price seems very steep to me.the other RSM were priced accordingly but these new ones are blowing me out of the water!ive got less than 2500 in my new 120 setup with some very nice equipment.at those prices,i would think Red Sea just priced most people out of these systems.
My RSM 250 at $1,529.99 was a value too - twice the size 130D for 50% or so more in price...

Folks, we've been here before, its a check the spec job, before you judge it please get a quote for an Opti Glass Aquarium and a x 10 T5 lighting unit, even better still before suggesting that it is overpriced can we suggest you see one first in the flesh so to speak, you can then compare the specifications with other options and then form an opinion.

bet I will never see one in the flesh here in Arkansas as I never saw a 130D, before I bought one & I never saw a RSM 250 before I got one either (non of our LFS carry them) ... so that might be pretty hard for most to see one in the flesh... I just bought mine from pics posted here in the RSM Club & after reading RSM Club members tank threads.

3?! What a good surprise! It's nice to have more options. Ideally we would have custom tanks designed by ourselves based on a lot of research about animals we'd like to maintain and executed by specialists with the top materials and state-of-the-art technology but unfortunately it is not always a possibility... RSMs are success platforms that bring affordable reefs to homes worldwide. I think RedSea tanks and support have developed a lot the hobby.
Who finds it expensive is probably already calculating the mods :read: (Like me - I can no longer live without dimmable ballasts, ....).

Aquarium: Power and Elegance Combined
MAX S-Series aquariums are constructed from 12 mm of HD
optically clear, (low iron) glass with a surface skimmer along the
entire rear wall. The aquarium includes a discreet rear chamber
housing powerful circulation pumps and a flow controlled
downpipe to the in-cabinet sump. The positioning of the circulation
pumps guarantees complete water circulation throughout the entire
aquarium.
The saltwater-resistant colour trim around the top and bottom
of the aquarium is long-lasting and can be replaced at any time
should a different colour scheme be preferred.
Sophisticated, Upgradeable Lighting System
The unique MAX S-Series slide & swivel lighting system consists of three individually switched lighting units. The
identical front and rear 4 x T5 units are hinged to the lighting chassis that slides across the top of the aquarium
providing total access for all maintenance and reefscaping tasks.
The centre unit has an additional 2 x T5 lights and 12 LED moonlights. Additional configurations for the centre unit
will be available in the future. Changeable front and side colour trim panels match the aquarium and cabinet. A dual
timer lighting controller is included as part of the complete system controller in the cabinet.
Total Reef Filtration
The complete reef filtration system starts with the surface skimmer
that feeds the water via a flow regulated downpipe to the in-cabinet
sump filtration system. The filtered water is returned to the aquarium
by a main system pump that also supplies water to all of the filtration
systems such as the protein skimmer, an optional chiller and/or
reactors. Connection between the aquarium and sump is via standard
union connectors so no gluing is required. The MAX S-System is supplied
with the main system pump, C-Skim 1800 protein skimmer, mechanical
and carbon filtration media and all piping including preparation to
connect a chiller and auxiliary reactors.
Reef Spec Customizable Cabinet
Internal: The aquarium is supported by a marine-spec anodized aluminium profile frame and adjustable feet
to ensure perfect alignment in all locations. The sump compartment is lined to ensure a durable splash proof
environment.
External style: Make your Max S unique by choosing from a variety of six body colours. The trims and the cabinet
colours can be customized in no fewer than 36 combinations. The oven-painted panels and doors are attached to the
frame and since they are not load-bearing they can be replaced at any time allowing renovation or a complete colour
change on a functioning aquarium. This feature combined with the replaceable trim on the light and aquarium will
add a significant resale value to the MAX S-Series.
Integrated Power Centre
The MAX S-Series follows the one-plug MAX concept and features a
power control centre with easy access to 10 individually switched power
sockets for all pumps, heaters, skimmer, reactors etc. in addition to the
lighting controller module.

as we all know - $$$ are relative - to some a 2$ tip a lot, to others it's $20, to some $200 is nothing - I can afford any tank, but I like a good value and all the RSM tanks have been this to me so far and beautiful too.
