And what is the rule of thumb on number of clams in a tank?

hopefuly in the next month im gonna jump into the clams..i always wanted 1 but now i have the lighting and right water parms to keep 1, good times ahead :)

How are you liking that black sand bed btw?

Thanks =) The black sand creates a wonderful effect in a dark room with the T5s on. Coral florescence really pops. The only problem with the sand is that detritus and bits of broken rock really stand out in contrast to the black. Small price to pay, I suppose.

I'm still fiddling with the bulb combo to strike the right balance (Blue+'s, Actinics, etc.), and I plan to do something about the back wall to further the effect (paint deep black/blue perhaps). Maybe I'll start a thread about it once I'm satisfied with the results.
