To be honest. Nothing!!! Clean water and good lighting. No feeding at all. Once they are over 1-2" they dont need it and I dont need any more waste in the water. These are all in a 93 cube. Now I do go through some alk and cal. I make my own and go through 1 gal of alk per week and 1 gal of cal every 3 weeks. I need to up my doser because the 7' maxima is new and my other clams have grown. I tested last night and my cal was down under 300 so time to bump it up. alk was ok but a little lower then I keep it
I got my clam on Saturday, it still hasn't open all the way,in the picture is the most it opens... my alk is at 8 my cal is at 450. How do you make your own alk? What would you recommend to dose to keep levels where they should be?
Oh boy LOL Ok here is the link. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2004/4/chemistry
I buy the very large boxes of baking soda. I tell ya what I will make a thread on DIY cal and alk if there is not one here already. I was planing on doing this before so i took a bunch of pics so I could make a thread. Let me search it first
I don't think I've posted my clams here (I have everywhere else though )
My beautiful maxima, who's been with more for over a year now and has grown heaps!
And the newest addition to the family, a beautiful little t. crocea who I searched long and hard for!
The key is stability, nice bright lights and enough love to kill a person I adore my clams so everything is pretty much done for them haha nothing that would annoy them is done in the tank
