One more thing. How old are the T12s? Old bulbs can and will cause GHA. I thing I read that the MH bulbs where new. As far as removing rock if its got the flow between them and spaces like you said it might not be the problem. Get the GFO up and running but dont expect it to go away quick. it will still take a month or so. if you really want it gone then get a sea hare. it will mow it down fast. the problem is that when its gone the sea hare starves. I have never understood why A LFS didnt just rent sea hares out to people with GHA problems.

Yes my t12 are old. Just replaced them a couple days ago. The MH's are new, replaced a month or so back. I guess I will see what happens with the GFO running before I remove some rock. Thanks again !!

Well hello again. It's been awhile since I've updated. I'm still battle a bad case of GHA but hangin in there. I installed my new led lights yesturday. I really like the way the blues bring out the color of the tank but to me I don't think they are as bright overall as my halides were--givin it some time!!! :) all my fish se to be doin good and corals are too. Hopefully they don't get overran by the GHA.
Well that's all that's new. I'll try to take some pics of my lights. :)

Hello again. Well with a lot of work & some knots on the head from beating it against the wall, finally got rid of the algae. Went from GHA to red slime but finally I think I won the battle. Thanks to everyone on here for the support. My fish are doin great and the few corals that I have so far are doin good as well. Now I can finally start to stock my reef with some color!! :). Here is a pic of what it looks like to date..

Well hello everyone. It's been quite some time since I updated my thread, (I couldn't get on with tap talk on my phone). Anyway, missed talkin to everyone & hearing feedback. A little has changed with my system lately... A few new fish, and corals. I know it's still pretty empty but coming along nicely, I think. :)

Well cracker, I tried a lot of things but I feel like patience & hard work was the key. Every time I did a water change I sucked out as much as I could with my hose, then before I put new water in, I manually removed as much as I could get with my fingers. With my phosphates in check, the GHA releases from the rock rather easy. I still have a few spots in my tank that GHA tries to grow but I try to stay on it. I really concentrate on phosphate levels, test weekly, sometimes more just to be sure. Once I started using salifert test kits instead of API, it helped. I don't really have the awnser. GHA sucks. :)

Well it's been quite awhile but here is an update on everything that's happened with my tank lately. The wife & I bought a new house & im sure uall know how much fun it is to move, especially a big tank!!![emoji846]. Well the move went well, didn't loose any livestock, just kinda fragged a few corals in the process. All n all it was a success after about 16 hrs of stress & cussing & thinkin why did we do this. [emoji51] lol.

Here are some pics of the new set up. I really like the way my aquascape turned out. A lot more open room in the tank for my tangs!!!

Well I finally decided that my purple tang had to go. [emoji19]. He has always picked at my open brain( that's what's covered by plastic cup in my pics), but then he started pickin at a lot of my LPS. [emoji848] I know right--they aren't supposed to but he did. I gave him to a friend for her tank...he's doin good. Now tryin to figure out what to replace it with...any ideas/suggestions would be great.
The good thing is, the brain coral looks better not covered!!!!
I'm still patiently waiting for the right time to purchase my ribbon eels too!!! Used to have em in my old set up...love em!!!
