Can't think of a catchy title, but I'm new

What's up guys?! Ok I'm new so I thought I'd just drop a line on here. After having freshwater tanks my whole life, I just started my first saltwater aquarium (biocube 29). I read a couple books, pestered my LFS to death, planned for months, and now I finally started it. I just put in the LR (~40lbs already covered in coralline algae) and sand earlier so the water is still cloudy, but I'll attach some pics. I put it all in this morning and ran the 250W sunpod for 9 hours today and the tank temp held in the 78 degree range. I"m super excited and don't know what else to say. Ya'll all have a good one and thanks for all the advice I've already read on these forums and will read in the future.

If anyone wants specifics for any reason here's all I'm running
Biocube 29, 40 lbs of live rock, 250W Sunpod, mounted fan on tank, Maxijet 1200 return pump, koralia 1, koralia nano, 2" deep live sand bed, Stealth heater (Chamber 1), LR rubble and purigen (Chamber 2)

Welcome  to RS!

Good looking tank. I think you'll be better off if you remove the "Rubble" from the back chamber now. It only serves to collect detritus and will cause (most likely) poor water quality in the near future. I'm speaking from first hand experience on this one and if you'll search the forums you'll see many others had the same experience. Many of us had elevated levels of NO3 (Nitrate) and once we removed the LRR they quickly went down and stayed down.

Also you may want to look into this thread for a really cool and easy to make DIY screen lid

Also you may want to spend some time reading through here... the more you know before you put the first living thing in your tank the better off you, your tank, and your WALLET will be...

I love PC! I try to get down there every chance I can. GREAT place to spend a week and chill out. We have a few members here from there who will probably chime in when they hear you're from there!

Welcome to RS and enjoy Reefing :)

BigAl07....thanks so much for the tips. I got that rubble out of there, and the screen lid is what I wanted to do originally but just couldn't figure out how so now I should be able to get that done...ha ha PC is great. You don't really realize it until you leave. And now that I'm in college at UGA going home is something I try to do a lot but can't ever do as much as I'd like. Thanks your all your help though! I really appreciate it.....I have just a couple questions though that you might could help me with. I took out the drip tray over chamber 2 because it just seemed to intensify the noise. Should I put it back or is it ok removed? Also I punched out the false floor in chamber 1 for a heater, should I do this to the false floor in chamber 2 as well or just leave it be? Thanks again!

LastLocal you're very welcome. Glad I could be of some help.

As for your 2 questions I'm unable to say one way or the other. I don't have this particular system so I'm not familiar with it either way. Hopefully someone else can chime in and assist you.

There is no false floor in chamber 2, it's just a piece of plastic, like the drip tray, i took mine out as i was setting it up, it may take a knife or something as it is a tight fit.

I use my drip tray, i just cut and put a piece of poly filter there and change it every other day. It may also be a good place to put bags of carbon or GFO etc. thing like that if your not running a sump. Hope this helped a little.
