Well my main tank now is a little low with the SG, being at 1.20. So I need to get that higher... Would it be safe to add 5 gallons of SW at 1.40SG to help raise the MD or would that be to much at once?

I think it should help even it out as it will mix right away. I have the 5 gallons for over 24 hours now mixing.

That should be fine Andrew, I've done similar before with higher volumes without experiencing problems. Just do it slowly, like a gallon very 5 minutes.

I'd feel much safer going with topping off (even a few times a day) with SW as opposed to removing SW and adding high concentration of SW. IMHO the possible sudden swing in SG is more dangerous than having it slightly high or low for a lil while.
