Test your battery backup

(email from EcoTech)

In the wake of an earthquake, and as the hurricane draws near us on the East Coast, it is important that you test your battery backup system now, prior to when you will need it. Chargers can fail and batteries can go bad. We designed the EcoSmart driver with a volt meter built into it in order to test the health of your battery backup system and ensure it's ready to protect your tank during a power outage.

To test your battery:

First you must have an EcoSmart driver (MP10 ES, MP10w ES, MP40w ES, MP60w ES models).

Next, unplug the charger from your battery and the VorTech's power supply from the wall.

Make sure your battery is plugged into your EcoSmart driver. The LED bar will represent how healthy your battery is, you should have MOST of the LED's lit, certainly over three quarters of them.

A fully charged battery in prime condition will light up all or all but one or two LED's on the EcoSmart driver.

Note for customers who do not have an EcoSmart driver: the battery backup is will work just fine with older (non-ES) pumps but this testing is not possible because the EcoSmart driver has an integrated volt meter (displaying how much charge the battery has currently).
