Are you sure its cigarettes they are smoking in there? Could be seaweed. This morning I woke up to my aquarium smoking.
I am very strict about smoking in the house. I was surprised to say the least. This is the first time the aquarium broke the rules. So I will forgive it as long as it doesn't happen again.
Haha, what's really happening is the nitrifying bacteria was not able to handle the new bio load of added fish. It spiked and is cycling again.
Nothing I can do about it but let it ride it's course and hope the fish do ok.
They are not showing any signs of stress. No violets sprouting from the gills or gasping for breathe. My guess is they have smoked before.
Water changes are not the answer. It will just prolong the cycle. I am just going to let nature take it's course for now.
I have make up water on stand by in case I need to pull the fish.
I hope they learn their lesson and stop smoking and drink more.
Good lesson for all you newbies, even the more experienced in this hobby make errors.
No, a nicotine patch won't work either. I have tried that.
Cold turkey is the only way. .
