I prefer BB. If you have enough Biological Filtration in other ways. The BB is less troublesome at times if you run into an issue. My BB is covered with coraline and it just blends in with the rocks. Takes a while but it will.
i just tried BB in my 12G, when the bottom gets dirty is REALLY shows, and it's an everyday job to keep it clean and looking nice, i have now put 3" of sand on the bottom, looks a lot better and much less work to keep it looking nice.

For a good BB tank you leave it alone and let the coralline take over. It takes a few months of ugly to start getting pretty.
