A local wood furniture supplier made them for me, in South African Rands they were really cheap, it is just Pine wood stained dark; they make bedside tables and this is just a slightly larger version. Great for housing the chiller and storing things and with the cushions on top people ALWAYS sit on them and watch the tank.

Hey all, time for an update, building is completed, now its just finishes and what not. Tank wasn't doing great due to the move but is starting to look better now!

So looks like I'll be moving away from RSM ...

doesn't look like the new tanks will make it to S.A and even if they do the price is going to be horrific ...
there's a local supplier in S.A who builds tanks in sort of a RSM style plug and play but with LED and options like Zeovit / DSB / Reactors so you can chose the style of tank you want to run.
Ill probably go for a 500l cube, just waiting on final prices out of the supplier.

to put that in perspective, you can buy a brand new small car for that money.

That's some serious money. We won't see them until early next year and I thing the 650 will be around AUD$5500.

Here Red Sea ships them up to 3,000 miles (4828 km) - coast to coast for free... seems like Red Sea could ship you one there... if they wanted too at a ressonable price, unless import laws are in play.

No idea what the issue is but we pay more for everything here. T.V's P.C's, all electronics, well all imports really.

if you guys knew what we have to spend on tanks here you'd not want a marine tank!

Okay so time for an update.

Been in the new house for a while, have thought about packing the tank in a few times because of GHA bloom, ridiculous cyno outbreaks and general fish deaths.

eventually managed to get it looking good again!

Hi All

LED question here

I want to replace the T5's with LED, reasons are T5 bulbs are ridiculously expensive here. other issues is 35w x 6 bulbs and also the extra heat means my chiller runs more often.
electricity prices in S.A are going up all the time so I need to start combating this ASAP.

my options due to price are as follows

VERTEX ILLUMILUX MARINO BLANCO 900

or

BeamsWork LED 2600 - 90cm (1W x 42pcs)

Im heading towards the Vertex so far.

any thoughts?

I am capable of doing DIY just getting anything in S.A is near on impossible.
