Ro/Di Unit Malfunctioning?

So, I got this new Ro/Di Unit in.. hooked it yesterday at 5pm. It's a 24gpd unit. The thing is though.. It's currently about 11pm and it's been almost 30 hours and it's only put out about 14-16 gallons. My water pressure is fine but the water is a bit cold. I know the water temp can reduce how fast they process water. What I want to know is if the units that push out 50gpd don't waste as much water? The ratio that this thing is pushing out good water is around 1:8 at the moment. It's just terrible. I'm considering sending it back because one of the brackets was broke on it and it's just incredibly slow.

I had a 75 gallon per day. On well water it would take 3 to 5 hours to make 5 gallons. Then I bought a booster pump.
It cut the time down more than half . I think lower gpd will just take longer.

Its possible you membrane cleaning valve is turned on. Mine purs out about 1/10th the water when im cleaning my membranes. If u have 1 make sure it's set to off.

Check with the manufacturer, but typically units should be in the range of 1 gallon of RO/DI water to 4-5 gallons of waste water.

Mike if you can send it back... I think I would ... your going to be really slow... with that unit (24gpd) making ro/di

Here a good value unit - imo - it's the one I have for $155 and free shipping - 150 GPD 4 Stage RO DI Water Filter with Autoshutoff Valve & Lifetime Warranty! BRS also has lots of great ones as does, Air-Water-Ice

Mine makes 5 gallons of ro/di in 45-50 mins when the temps are above 50 & 5 gallons an hour when it's real cold even below freezing.

I'd been holding off on a water change just to get this unit in and it took a total of two whole days to make 24 gallons of water! I'll be shipping it back asap and getting a refund. I'm going to go with the 150gpd unit that you have. Seems like the best bang for the buck. The help is much appreciated. :)

I bought the BRS 150gpd water saver unit. I make 5 gallons in about 20 minutes, with only about 10 gallons of waste. I have about 300 TDS coming out of the tap, 35 coming out of the RO unit and 0 when it gets through the DI. Water pressure is about 100psi. I am extremely happy with the unit. I use the waste to water the outside plants.
