Need HELP w/Zoa Frag

Here's a picture of my frag that's getting some red/purple(?) coraline growth on it:

I THOUGHT it would be fairly easy to scrape it off with the tweezers:

That's what it looks like after I tried to scape it off...IT'S NOT EASY TO REMOVE with tweezers!
Will it over take my pretty polyps? Any suggestions on what to do? :help:

Mine grew right over the top. I would leave it alone. The Zoa will do fine by spreading onto the rock. Once it does you could remove the plug and start another colony in a different area of the tank:)

Sometimes I'll put several small pieces of rock around the plug so it spreads to them and that also saves the trouble of "fragging" the piece. As they spread onto the smaller rocks, I just break them apart and Ta-Da...A new frag.

Mark, I hope you are right! Seems like once this red coraline spot started it's encrusting over the frag plug :(
The polyps were there first but I don't know who is toughest here. Don't want to lose my pink polyps...they seemed to be doing so good.

Zoas are pretty tough buggers. They may get pushed around from time to time but they adapt. I once had a plug drop to the substrate and got covered by my gravel for weeks until I finally saw it surface. The polyps were all closed and small but in a few weeks they were good as new again:)

Thanks! Sorry, don't remember the name but I do know where I got them :)
I got them from jjmoneyman at http://www.myreeftoyours.com/
I highly recommend http://www.myreeftoyours.com/ and happy to say they are a Reef Sanctuary Sponsor & long time member here. I bet Jerrod can ID them & fix you up with some

Edit: BOTH of the frags plugs in the top picture came from My Reef to Yours & are AWESOME!

Hi Diana, those are the Lazer Lava Zoas and one of my faves, and it looks like your limon zoas have really taken off as well. I wouldn't worry about the coraline growth as it's going to grow everywhere on your rocks given time anyway. My DT is completely purple because of it and I started out with 95% bright white dry rock.

This hobby is very addicting. I've got around 1000 coral frags right now and I'm looking at ordering more. Talk about addiction.
