I didn't like the fact that the water in the 2 sump end sections were not "moving", it had a film on the surface.....

Update -- gutted all the T5s and ballast,, left the timer and cooling fans,, installed 2 Radion Pros.
Install neptune Apex system + WXM for controlling the vortechs and Radions

I'm surprised about the LEDs,,, I thought they would be blinding white bright at 100 % ... I did install the TIR lenses...
I suppose you never want blinding white light....

I wouldn't call it custom,,,
Just got a section of foam core steel stock and replaced the reflector with that... pretty quick easy job...
the hardest part was figuring out what I could and could not gut out of the hood,,
I'd tear something out,,, test the fan/timer,,, rinse, repeat
:)

I didnt even know foam core steel stock existed haha. Where do you get that stuff? What are other people doing to mount the radions?

took about 3 attempts and 5 hours of nerve racking time....
tear down,, mock up,, try in the tank...
was afraid of scratching the inside...
I have egg crate grille stuff on the bottom to stabilize it,, as the tank is going to be mostly critters and diggers vs fish

install with hood closed points the LEDs at a 30" down from mounting point towards front of tank

take a little bit of tweaking,,, but the wires just falls into place when the hood is closed...






went with the 4 LED,,, wish I went with the 5 LED...
thinking about installing the Aluminium tape on the flippy part of the hood to ad some reflective property...

final opinion ... you need 2 of them,,, there claim of reverse gyre by running in A-A mode does not create a freindly-current when running in reverse... the power needed to push down the depth of the tank to create a full reverse gyre would kick up too much sand....
