I've been busy busy!
Lots of stuff have happened since the 18th. My new plants came in, I had my first batch of my new and improved blue strand guppies, I have a new plant growing tank, etc. I guess I'll go down the list.
Babies!-
They were a little unexpected as the mothers weren't due for another 2 weeks or at least I thought. The first batch came on the 18th. I didn't see them till I came home after working on cars with my friends. I saw little figures in the back of my tank and I thought surely not and yup it was. 4 little ones hiding in the corner. Little buggers are hard to catch in a planted tank. So I put them and both moms in a fish keeper till the others popped. That came the following Wednesday. This time with 6. Once they are bigger I'll plop them in the plant growing tank to mature.
Danios-
I also have other new fish and shrimp. I bought 2 blue long fin Danios, 2 long fin Leopard Danios, and 3 Cherry Shrimp. I've had the Danios for about 3 weeks now. I got the shrimp the day of the teaser pic, so I haven't had them long. FYI Danios are my new favorite fish.
Plants-
Well the new plants consist of Hair grass, Dwarf Baby Tears, Java Moss, and Riccia. The background is hair grass of course, the baby tears flank the right side slope, the java moss fills in the mid ground, and the Riccia is the carpet for the front.
Right after planting:
All nice and clear:
Although I only ordered one plant per type, minus the baby tears, I had a lot left over. I didn't have any room in any of my tanks for them so I was in a little situation with those and clippings from the other tank. That's when I came up with a perfect use for the old nasty 20g I have sitting around. A plant growing/fry raising tank! It has Fluorite as a base and sand on top for easy growing and plant propagation. The lighting is the same generic CF as on the new 2.5g. The tank is sealed off will press and seal to keep the humidity high so I don't have to have the tank filled all the way up in the event I need to move it. Also the sides are covered in foil to reflect light back into the tank. It's ugly and nasty, but it gets the job done. Current inhabitants are one of the mean Leopard Danios (he was picking on all of the other tank mates) and the "a face only a mother could love, not to mention giant" ghost shrimp for clean up.
There's most likely more, but I spent the whole day swapping an engine and have yet to sleep, I'm tired night folks. x.x
