Hermit crabs eating black nassarius snails

I added two nassarius snails on Saturday and by Monday two small hermit crabs were munching on the snail......kinda odd never knew that hermit crabs would do that. I have other turbo snails and even smaller ones and they haven't touched them at all.

crabs eat snails ... if you want snails & hermits, be prepared to replace the snails periodically, with hermits, I would add around 35 or so snails in your 34 gallon tank & lots of empty shells of various sizes will also help slow their demise

+1 this is part of reef keeping. Every now and then you buy some more and throw'em in the tank.

hermit crabs marketed as harmless clean up crew is one of the biggest cons sold to unwary reefers, they are opportunistic killers that will turn on everything including each other, nothing is safe, get rid of them asap

I feed my hermits at work so they won't eat my snails...or eat them as fast.

I love reefers...
