Hello, I'm Mike, otherwise known as Frogman
I set this tank up in August 2009 as an upgrade to a fish only 75 gallon.
I don't have any photos showing how bad the 75 had gotten, completely covered in red algae, only half the lights working, but here's what I started with in July before realizing the tank was so scratched up that it was never going to look good, so shortly after this photo, I drained the 75 and replaced it with a 90.
I have no space behind the tank.
The 90 was an even tighter fit
When I set up the 90, I refitted the fluval with 5 inches of sand in the bottom, cut big sections out of the center compartment to divert the flow. I just have a couple pieces of live rock in that compartment. There are hosts of mysid shrimp, isopods, and bristleworms living in the sand and center of the filter. The top section has biopellets a biodegradable carbon source for nitrate consuming bacteria and a thin section of sponge.
The returns to the tank are piped under the sand and come out in six underwater jets. If you look hard you can see 4 in the photo below.
Here is the 90 shortly after set up.
The candy cane has been the fastest grower.

Here is the October 2009 shot. Kenya tree, xenia, finger leather, cabbage leather and the candy cane top right in the barnacle tree.
I drilled the collection cups for the Tunze nano skimmers to drain into gallon containers under the tank.
I also have R2 Extreme moonlights that work pretty well.
This was a mistake, don't buy them
So here I was in November
And December with frogspawn added and a change of background. Keeping the back clear of coraline looks better to me.
Found a ball anemone growing next to a pink sponge.
Crabs and snails love the algae wafers.
Xenia takes some work to control. I'm cutting and using frag rocks to export it out of the tank. My LFS is giving me a $10 credit for every one he sells.
January full tank
The crocea clam has done well
So have the bangaii cardinals, the male has a mouth full of babies.
The little guys didn't make it too long though. All gone in two days.
Latest of the clam
Where I'm at today
Water parameters are salinity 1.025, calcium 440, mag 1380, alk 6-7 (I'm having to add baking soda) pH 8.4, Nitrate 0, phosphate 0.01, temp 78.5
