Project is going well. AquaEuro34 is an all-in-one self contained tank/sump. DT is aprox. 29 gals with a 5 gal sump.
Changed the original set-up quite a bit. I removed the sponge prefilters, the denitrator, the bio-balls and the UV unit. The four compartment sump now contains - #1 inlet with heater and ceramic noodles - #2 protein skimmer - #3 live rock and poly pad filter - #4 outflow with one 300gph pump. The only mechanical filtration is an easily accessible poly pad which I change weekly.
Lighting is a 150 watt MH, 20kK and 6 blue led moon lights with fan cooling.
Stocked with two tank-raised clowns, two skunk cleaner shrimp, snails and an increasing supply of pods, big and small. Got rid of the crabs ( I don't really hate them ) because they were too diligent in their efforts. Now have some filter feeding worms visible and what's left of a small Zoa frag is trying to grow again.
Today's water parameters are textbook with the exception of Kh/alk 8.6 and Calc 480. I am using reef salt blend and don't really have any calcerous corals with the exception of one small Galaxia frag.
Water changes are weekly at three gallons per.
Have gone thru the algae cycle (if photo is visible see patches of red slime ) and added some sea grass several weeks ago ( because I like the way it waves in the currents). GHA seems to have gone from emerald green to kind of a grey color and I see clumps of it in the inflow screen. In any event the algae is full of "bugs" and the shrimp love to comb thru it for fresh meat.
