Anyone ever try it? Is it possible or does that pump need to be submerged?

If I hook my RO line to my float valve is that ok? Obviously tht means leaving the RO unit on like premenantly......does it sill produce waste water if the output is shut off? I can't see my drain line out and can't tell if it's still making waste.....
