Yellow Fiji Leather question?

Can a yellow leather split itself into 2 seperate pieces? Every since I bought mine, its been repairing itself (I guess since my LFS didn't take very good care of it), but the last few days it looks like it's splitting itself in half. I'm not sure if it's turning into 2 corals or just turning into some sort of funky shape. Does anyone know what's going on?

Yes they can literally "split" into two new ones (or so I've heard).

I will take a picture today once my lights come on. If they can split, how do I seperate them in order to put the new piece in another location?

If you can't split the rock (not easy) you'd almost have to cut one part off and frag it onto another piece of rock with a rubberband or sew it onto a rock.
