XL2000 RSM250 tank thread

Hi everyone,

Seeing that a lot of people started a tank thread, I tough of starting one as well.

Tank start date : Nov 30th 2009
Live Rocks : 68 pounds of fully cured live rocks
Salt : SeaChem Reef Salt
Water : RO/DI
Chiller : None
Filtration : Stock Skimmer, foam filters, CPE and Purigen
Maintenance : 10% water change weekly, clean up foam filters every couple of days, clean up glass and skimmer once a week.

Current data: (Performing tests every 2-3 days but will soon do it once a week)
PH: 8.4
Salinity: 1.025
Amonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: 0
Temp : 79 F
Lighting : T5 on 4hrs a day (5pm - 9pm) (currently have no corals)
Moonlight (9pm - 5pm)

Live Stock:
Fish:
- 2 x black and white clowns

Invertebrates:
- 2 x Peppermint Shrimps
- 2 x Cleaner Shrimps

Clean up crew:
- Hermit crabs
- Red legged Hermit crabs
- Astrea Snails
- Cerith Snails
- Bumble Bee Snails
- Turbo Snail

That looks awesome! What did you use for your substrate? I ordered a 250 last thursday and can't wait to get it! What about your rock, where did it come from?

Thanks guys,

I believe the rocks are a mix of Indonesian and Fiji's. I was lucky enough to be able to hand pick them from the LFS and the guy had lots of nice ones.

I am not sure the make of the sand I have but it's not live sand just 2 bags of regular marine sand.

I didn't glue the rocks, just by putting them on top of each other, they were pretty sturdy and aren't moving.

I love the rocks too so much that I am a little hesitant to hide them with corals, we will see down the road but I think I will focus more on fishes at the beginning.
