think of it as a tv screen over your tank that is used to produce hight intensety light that you can change just like changing the chanal on tv

I have halides now and used to have PCs. The halides are awesome for coral growth and the cool shimmer they cast on the rocks and sand but super hot and energy guzzlers. I'd like to get some LEDs in the future when they go down in price more and have a few more tried and true years under their belt. I guess if I lived in a cooler climate I wouldn't mind the heat of the halides but in Sacramento during the summer the room my tank is in gets quite a bit warmer than any other room in the house even with the AC going.
