Thanks for the post Nikki! :D

Yesterday I checked with the Hydro-meter that is about 10 months old, and got a reading of 1.026, my tank has been on the decline for about a week now, and all other params are right where they are supposed to be. I didn't quite trust that reading, as I've heard that Hydrometer's can go bad with time. Went to the LFS and picked up a new one, got home, tested the water, and to my surprise the SG reading on the Hydrometer was reading 1.030!!!!! I quickly did a water changed and dropped the SG to about 1.028 and will have to do another water change again tomorrow. My temp is between 79-80 degrees.

Peace

1.023 using a hydro at 79.No problems keeping cal and alk.
It's easy for the fishes to expelled that extra salt out when SG is lower!!

1.025 @ 78 deg. I use a Pinpoint Salinity monitor. It matches my little cheppo swing arm deal and a lab grade floating hydrometer.

1.024 w/ refractometer w/ATC.
With all the hydrometers I bought the first time through I could have purchased the $40 refractometer the first time :D
Temp varies between 78-80 according to my radio shack probe.

Swing arm hydrometers are very inaccurate, and I stress inaccurate! Please do your livestock and yourself a favor and purchase a refractometer.
1.025 with refractometer at 77.5 F
1.032 with deep six hydrometer at 77.5F

I was lucky in that my swing arm is .002 low compared to a properly calibrated refractometer. Not bad, but not accurate either.

cward43062, .007 too high, yikes!

:) :D  ;) :p :smirk:
