I thought I bought a chalice, but researching further, I may have a montipora, or may be a Echinopora or Cyphastrea.... Any thoughts, as I would like to know exactly what I have.

Thanks, :smack:

Echinopora/Echinophyllia - no. Chalice - no. Cyphastrea - no. Look up Montipora venosa or Montipora monasteriata.

I actually looked at that photo from Divers Den before I made my original post.

Whatever "derped" means, I think it's me who did the derping. I could have sworn I saw the coral had extended polyps like the M. venosa or the M. monasteriata. Maybe I'm getting senile or it's been a long weekend.

Being sold to you as a chalice is correct. The Echinopora lamellose is the Original Blue Chalice.

Anyway, it is a very beautiful piece.

I do appreciate everyone's input! I really don't feel bad being so confused. Thanks all, a chalice is what I'll call it then! :winner: CHALICE!
