Wavemaker timing

I've reorganized my phs to allow for some wavemaking. They are on opposite sides of the tank where they generate flow circulating in one direction or the other.

What timing do y'all like to use on your setup?

I understand tidal cycles are ~6hrs, but close to the surface, swell waves would move the current back and forth with each swell that comes by.

So what would be best? Simulate the tides at 6 hour reversals? Simulate the swell current with 1 minute intervals? Anywhere in between?

I use 5 minute intervals. It's not perfect and I wish I had a better system for alternating current, but it works for the moment.

I have read 1 minute is good Mark. Sorry i have no personal experience. I am still a wall banger. (indirect flow)

You might want to check out Oceans Motions web page. You might get some info there.

Thanks Frankie. I looked at the OM website, it looks like their units turn at 1RPM (at least the 4-way does).
