Hi all, my LFS has advised me to buy a UV Steriliser, is it necessary and if it is, how easy are the to fit in a Red Sea Max 250, they seem quite a big unit.

Need? No. People do use them to address certain issues. They can be an aide to minimize algae and minimize ick. There are pros and cons to them and all the other equipment we use. I personally wouldn't just add a piece of equipment without a specific need other than the LFS trying to sell me things to keep themselves in business. My LFS told me the exact same thing, that I'd be a fool to not run a UV. I'd be a fool if I listened to the young kid who doesn't even own a tank and just parrots things he hears around the shop from their "experts". I smile and say, thanks I'll look into that.
I think Mike gave you good advice.
It's good to ask HERE before you buy stuff recommended by most LFS. Even livestock.
