The mystery of the filter pad

So, I have been keeping a filter pad (polishing pad), one side blue and one side white..whatever that is...in the left chamber of my bakpak skimmer for a couple months. I change it out about every two weeks. So, I just looked at it two days ago and thought it was about time for a change because it was looking really dirty. So, tonight I go to change it and it is crystal clear and the water in that side of the chamber is also really clean. It looks like I just cleaned the whole skimmer. And, trust me I didn't and boy did it need cleaning. What has happened??????

Nitrates are zero, everything in the tank is doing fine. Actually my corals look great. But it is time for a waterchange anyway and I will clean out that skimmer in the morning.

Phew on the nitrates...

My second guess is that the Filtered Gunk Fairy came and took it and you'll find a quarter under your pillow in the morning.

LOL! Good answer :)

Sometimes it's better to accept a GOOD mystery and let it go :)
