Thank you @Delareef123

Still waiting for the new fans to arrive so I thought I'd share some progress pics on the hood wiring

Dude that is kick ass awesome! You are making me want to mess with my tank now. Please stop this brilliance before I get in over my head. Excellent!!!

Wow it's pretty much 6 months later and I'm still at it with this tank. Update time!

Still no luck sourcing the RSM replacement fans locally in SA. May be forced to import them. Have tried a few different after market 50mm fans (hard size to come by) with varying results. Some are nice and quiet but at the expense of airflow and others are just the opposite. The RSM fans seem to be a good balance of noise and airflow. In the meantime though I've added some Sunon fans in there which are real loud but move a lot of air. Everything works perfect!

Been real busy fixing up the new house and that's delayed the tank a bit since I needed to finish up and make room for the mixing station. Finishing with painting at the moment so I won't have to move the tank once running.

Have made quite a bit of progress on the various mods and the tank has been cleaned and leak tested. RO source hopefully being installed this weekend and can start the cycle soon...fun times ahead!

My return pump plans have been realized and I've got my hands on a Jebao DC2000 that fits the chamber of death perfectly!

Some thoughts on my intended filtration setup:

-Have an InTank media rack now
-Planning on running purigen and matrix in there along with nitra guard biocubes to finish the rack off.
-Have the rack paired up with a tunze 9002 skimmer I picked up a while back.
-Also picked up a bubble magus mini 60 reactor a while ago that I knew would fit perfectly in the 130D. Plan on running some GFH in there eventually once the cubes have reached a good balance.

Ok enough talk. Here's what you guys came for...

Lots more updates to come... I've been real busy!

Tunze 9002 skimmer cup has been trimmed to allow proper fit and full operation of the rsm maintenance hatch.

Bag of seachem matrix just to beef up the filtration slightly. Got the space in the media rack so figured why not...

Not sure if I mentioned it before, but I will be running Orca Nitra Guard bio cubes in this setup. Bagged some up and added to the media rack with an airstone to complete the bomb.

Wanted to keep the bio cubes on the last level of the media rack so that any bio mass coming off it will get picked up by the skimmer rather than settling into other filter media below it. It was only then that I realized there was a flaw with this setup since the bubbles rising through the media rack would push the filter pad at the very top trying to make it for the surface.

So I got to work and designed another insert for the very top level of the rack. A bubble diverter that would angle the filter pad layer and allow a gradient towards the back of the chamber for the bubbles to slide out of. This allows me to use a filter pad as needed while not only allowing the bubbles an easy way to reach the surface, but also containing any splash from the bubbles as they burst (no salt creep :001_cool: )

media rack fully assembled. The bubble diverter actually ended up securing an extra shelf for additional media (bag of purigen placed there in the pic to test)

Man its been an age since I seen you. You can use computer fans for the hood. I have my fans in the house here. Went hoodless. Have a fair few mods since I last seen you ☺ all is looking good buddy.

Do you have a reeflink for the radion ? I got me a vortechs and very handy for controlling both

No, unfortunately no Reeflink. But I did get the vortech battery backup which for me was a better move knowing the instability we can experience withy our power grid. Allows my mp10 to run for up to 3 days in backup

*places Reeflink onto wishlist

Oh btw, have you used an app called Aquarimate? I got it a few days ago and was quite impressed at the convenience and features it gives. A bit pricey but I don't regret the purchase

No I have heard of it but for me I don't think I would really use it. Have my routines in place now so best not to mess as everything is going well. I did look at the backup but I am going to buy a petrol generator instead as it costs the same and will run everything

That looks very tidy indeed. How is the supply of fish and corals for you down there ? Easy or hard. Love the scape. What corals are you planning?

Supply is actually ok. I struggle sometimes to find all the great variants of things like zoas, but otherwise not too bad. Price is high though.

Was planning to do a softy/lps setup but lately I've been wondering about sps. I'm not 100% confident though that I will be able to have good success with sps and the thought of something going wrong and losing sensitive corals overnight is scary. Perhaps once i get my dosing pump sorted out I might go in that direction. I also need to do long term tests with my new temp controller and see how stable the temps are for sps.

He only thing I know for certain is that I'm taking things slow...real slow :)

I have allot of sps lps and softies in my tank now with no issues at all. I also installed a sump into my 130d. I am using stc temp controller which is great. I don't use any dose at all. Just have a few supplements I add each day. The refugium seems to be doing great for my tank and the arognite keeps ph kh and ca and mg very stable.
