Snail ID

I just found a snail that came out of the sand when I fed. It is about 1/2 inch long. I think it is a nassarius, but not so sure.

Nassarius, good member of CUC. Keep an eye on it though. There are some nasty critters that look like nassarius. look up Mud whelk.

How do you end up getting something other then a nassarius?

I have only ever had 1 nassarius snail in my tank so it could only have come as a hitchhiker.

Baby Snails can hitchhike in on a plethora of things. Plants, corals, other snails, live rock... Easy to miss when they are babies, as they can be almost as small as the ball on a ball point pen. Good freebie you got there.
