Hi I'm new here and I'm looking for advice on my week old 270l tank with a 50l sump. It has approx 20kg live rock and roughly an inch sand bed with added live sand..the help I need is what size and make is best I'm thinking the bubble Magnus 3.5 ??? Obviously nothing but sand and rock in it at the mo so when is best to get skimmer in ?? Thanks nikki

For your skimmer question, you may want to get a larger skimmer for that system. Usually people try to get a skimmer that is rated for a larger volume than they actually have.
Some additional live rock may help as well.
When you get the chance, start a reef chronicle, it's a great way to share your plans, equipment and get feedback specifically for your system.
There are lots of great folks here that can help with most any questions you have.
