Sick coral

Hi all, so my most prized coral, a yuma, is ill. Can it get my other corals sick too? I'm not sure what it is sick with but it is slowly shrinking away. I'm almost positive it is dying because my nitrates got too high. I feel awful. Thanks in advance for your help.

If the coral has an actual disease or parasites, yes the other corals could get it. However, I don't think this is the case with your Yuma.

Yuma should be kept in fairly dim light and moderate flow. They should be fed, small fine foods such as plankton.

It is possible the high nitrates damaged the Yuma. So could placing it in too high lighting.

At this point make sure your nitrate problem is fixed, and keep the coral in dim light. Feed it lightly if it's polyps extend. It may come back,

"Shrinking away," as in withdrawing sounds like too much light IMO.. Like mentioned above though, find it some shade for awhile and see how it responds. GL.

How does everything else look btw? If all is well, I don't think the nitrates are the issue here. Mushrooms such as these are actually quite durable IME, but if your burning them up, well...
