Sea Hare Problems

Hey everyone
I have just come home from work and found my sea hare is beeing attacked by my Cleaner shrimp.
The sea hares back is open and the shrimp is trying to pull out the insides.

The hare is alive and is releasing small amounts of Ink into the tank.

What should I do
They have been happy together for ome time and the shrimp will usually feed and clean the hare without problems

If not you may want to pull it out if you suspect it's on it's way OUT!

The shrimp is probably "sensing" something wrong with the SH even though it's still alive.

Are you sure it's not just THE opening in the back of the SH? They have a large "Vent Hole" back there.

The Sea Hare has some potential to "Nuke" the tank if it's threatened. In the ocean the ink poses not much of a threat except to something VERY close. but in a closed system like our tanks the INK can't be diluted very much and risks all your critters.

The sea hare has a large line all the way down its back but this is open alot wider than usuall
I belive they do this just before chemical release

That's a guess at best. Some live a long time but in our tanks I've seen them live less than a year.. which is sad because I suspect they live much longer in the wild!

Seriously... take it out...
