Red slime algae problem

Manual removal with a turkey baster (make sure if you blast it off the rocks to collect it so it doesn't spread) works best but some types of snails mostly Mexican turbos will consume it. A always last resort is to use a chemical product. UltraLife red slime remover works great but follow the directions on the box. Ive heard mixed results using it. Also address the source on what's causing it. too much lighting, over feeding, or excess nutrients.

Yes address the source! Smart move. Consistent water changes with zero TDS RO/DI water, running good mechanical filtration like CPE and Purigen, aggressive skimming will all help. Another thing is to increase flow in the area of the red slime.

One good idea is to use the turkey baster right before you do a water change, get the red slime up and in the water column and then siphon it out for a water change.
