Red Sea Reefer Rimless Details

Does anyone have any details on the new Red Sea Reefer Rimless systems other than the information that is on the website? I really would like to see closeup photos of the tank and sump area along with more details. I've seen the old videos previewing these tanks at shows but I would like to see something current with details. If you haven't seen the new line you can see them at http://www.redseafish.com/aquarium-systems/reefer/

Hi Aquadude, information is still limited on the new Reefer aquariums hopefully we may see some pictures or videos coming out of the SIPS aquarium trade show in China.

There are no videos previewing this product range, please don't confuse this with the E Series the Reefer is another range of Red Sea aquariums.

More news to follow ASAP.

From what I can tell it looks like a rimless tank with a sump. Depending on the price it appears to be what I wished I had instead of my 500. Don't get me wrong, the MAX-S series are a great line of tanks if you are going to keep everything stock. However, so many of us modify these tanks with controllers, different skimmers, lights and pumps etc. that they are nothing close to stock anymore.

Good looking tank... I like the overall design but I think the sump and ATO reservoir are too small. I find it hard to believe that anyone would choose a lighting system other than LED's making the need for a chiller pretty remote. That being said, I think it was a mistake to limit the size of the sump and ATO reservoir to make space for a chiller.

I look forward to seeing how owners setup and mod these tanks. It will be interesting to see if someone engineers a "add-on" sump/refugium piece that connects to the main sump but is located in the chiller compartment.

I agree with the small sump/ATO input. Some newbie comments from me (less than 5 months experience).

The ATO resevoir holds enough for three days of evaporation (half the time of my current setup).

What is the thickness of the back glass? I know it will vary on tank size, but I couldn't tell if there was any additional spacing on the back. To go with the sleek look of a rimless, I would like to place powerheads, gyres, etc in the back corners. This would keep wiring behind the tank instead of on the side and the black plastic of many pumps would pseudo-blend in with the back glass.

Lights will still need to be hung above the tank. Also, consideration would be needed on whether you put a cover on the top to minimize evaporation or netting to discourage fish that like to jump.
