Red leathery thing

I have a 15gal. tank and the live rocks that I have suddenly had this red stuff growing. my suspicion is that its red slime, but after a week, the red stuff turned to dark red and shriveled up. I had a WC and i tried to scratch it off the live rock. it felt leathery and its like 1mm thick and stuck to the live rock. anyone here ever had this in their tank? thanks.

Could be deep red coralline algae which is good.

Could you get a picture of it?

I'll try to get a pic tonight. thing is its a new tank around 1 month only.

What about red turf algae (not good).

Corraline wouldn't be leathery.
Not sure what it is though since cyano should be able to be pulled off of the rock.

what is that AL? good or bad? my husband had a bit of an outbreak in his 90 at the office, and he has something that looks like this.. but there is red and yellow.. like a dark yellow orangy color.
