i have had it for a week in a ten gallon.
it was fine intell my mom tried to clean my tank and she took it off the rock.
i tried moving back but it would'nt stay.
when i woke up it was at the bottom of the tank and healthy, so i decided to leave it there.
next thing i know all the ends where shrunken up and the mouth was showing.
i am conserned and took it out of the tank and put it in a cotainer.
i did this because if it was dying i would contaminate my water plus a bunch of stuff was coming off of it.
what is happing?
is it dying?

Yes, if the anemone is spewing its guts, it is dead or dieing. :(
Remove the anemone and smell it... if it stinks, flush it.

I do not recommend getting another anemone until you can maintain acceptible water parameters consistantly, have proper lighting and also let the tank mature for at least 6 months.
Anemones are very fragile and require the utmost care.

So it is still attached?
Can you post a picture?

Please post your water parameters:
salinity
temp
ph
alkalinity
calcium
magnesium

What type of lighting?
How much water flow?
How long has the tank been set up?

I'm surprised nobody has started the lecture yet. But here it is. Even the most experienced hobbyists lose anemones, and you have it in a 10 gallon? Not acceptable.

Where's Beelzebob??? Oh well, I'll do it.

Doode, unacceptable.

1. No Anemone in a NEW tank.

2. No Anemone in a 10 gallon tank.

3. No one should be in your tank without KNOWING what they're doing.

I had a big lecture typed out, but I'm not even going to bother. You ignored the advice you received when you were thinking of getting the anemone in the first place (see BigAl's post - the third in the thread you started). However, I will type the following:

This "hobby" is not a game, or something that you can just walk away from whenever you feel like it - unless you don't have a conscience. These are animals, and you should feel as strongly about caring for them as you would a puppy. If you're going to commit to taking them to your home, then you need to commit to giving THEM a good home.

I don't give a lot of advice on here, because frankly I'm probably in the lower bottom half knowledge-wise on keeping a saltwater tank, but I can't sit idly by while folks/kids/people/whoever go around asking for advice and then ignoring it because the answer isn't "Sure, everything will be perfect and easy." That's what the guy at the fish store will tell you because his job is to sell you stuff.

I'm probably coming off a bit harsh, but I mean to be. You're killing helpless animals because you don't listen and/or you don't care.

(Yes, that was me not bothering... You don't want to see the other one.)

Actually he was very lectured, and beezlebob was in on it (4 pages worth). thread was "just starting out sw beginners", under "10gal reef set up". I guess it didn't sink in. too bad :(

No one to blame but himself. Sorry guy, the truth hurts

All of that in a 10g tank? I am very confused.
Regardless, nobody should take an anemone off of a rock when cleaning or for any other reason. If I buy or sell an anemone I do it with the rock or you risk damaging the animal.
I'll leave the rest alone since I really don't understand what is going on.
Ultimately give it the smell test. The smell of a dead anemone is something you will not forget.

No need to beat anybody up here.
Ricky if the anemone is still alive then take it to the lfs and hope they will properly care for it.
Also return all but one of your fish.
Start over and you can still have a lovely tank.
No tank is "thriving" after a week. It takes years before you can even think about saying that.
This is a very slow hobby.
Best of luck. I hope the nem makes it. I can't think of anything you can try to help it with what you have. Just try to keep it alive until you can take it somewhere it has a chance. It will probably not live regardless, but you can give it a chance.

Yeah listen to words of wisdom 'cough Lynn. Take all that stuff back asap, maybe just trade them for in-store credit and some cool little turbo's to snail around your tank for a few weeks....
