peices breaking off my coral

It's not uncommon for "branching" coral to have a piece snap/break off now and again. Could be nothing more than it getting bumped into.

That's some type of SPS (Stylo, Acro just a guess though).

What are your tank parameters and how long has it been in the tank.

PS I have a Stylophoria that has had 2 small "tips" break off and I just glued them to frag disks and now I have some to share/trade/sell later on.

That looks a little like a Montipora digitata, which can be *very* fragile. I wouldn't expect pieces to just fall/break off on their own though.
It does look very healthy, so I guess no worries unless the "breaking" continues.
What kinds of fish/livestock do you have in the tank?

I think Teri's RIGHT on the money there (and it's a LOVELY coral too)

I was just reading one of my "Coral" books that "Santa-Julie" put in my stocking for Christmas and "tips breaking off" is considered normal and a "form or propagation" in the wild. This is all assuming that tank and coral are healthy and something has just bumped into the coral.
