Hello,

New to Reefing bought a Red Sea Max 250 from a friend guy who was getting a bigger - just started breaking it down taking it apart and evaluating options and upgrades. Any suggestions would be appreciated, not sure what kind of Reef I want as of yet. Loved the photos in the forum and look forward to learning and sharing with you all!

As your new to reef keeping, set the tank up stock, don't mess with much in the way of options or upgrades for now. Once you get the tank running and doing well, then consider upgrades, but only if they are really going to do something for the system. Many of them don't actually do very much.

Above all, plan out what your trying to do with the system. You don't need to pick every last fish, coral and invert, but you need to have an idea of how you want the tank to end up. Go slow and don't rush into things. You'll make some mistakes, but you want them to occur in such a way that things don't get out of hand and create a total disaster.
