I noticed in your TOTM article in Reefkeeping the mention of an ETSS skimmer in your system. Would you mind explaining that to me?

I hope Mike doesn't mind it, but ETS is a brand name of skimmers. They were the ones that started the downdraft style of skimmers and I believe Mike's is style a downdraft unless he has modified it.

Downdraft skimmers shoot water down a long collumn full of bioballs where the water splashing causes the bubbles to form when the air is drawn in from the water shooting action.

I have a question about the UV too, doesn't it affect the bacteria in the tank as well as bigger critters?
