Maxi-jet differences

I see Maxi-jet of various model and it has the same name with similar "power" but with different brand name. Are they the same?

Cobalt Aquatics MJ
MarineLand Premium Maxi-jet
MarineLand Maxi-Jet pro

The cost varies. So if the gph is similar are they the same? Which one is more reliable? The one that cost more?

Ok, I just ordered two MarineLand Maxi-Jet Pro MJ1200. One for mixing salt water with piggy back to pump it to tank during water change. And the other for Spectrapure dual media reactor. Spectrapure sells the Cobalt Aquatics MJ1200. Since the Gph is about the same and I saw it on sale at Aquarium Water Pumps & Water Movement: Marineland Maxi-Jet PRO. I just get the lower price.

I didn't know for sure if one is better then the other. Waiting for someone that has had both to reply to your post. I have used the MarineLand Maxi-Jet Pro MJ1200 and MJ900's with no problems. Maybe not the quietest or strongest pump, but what I call a good cheap pump.

Cobalt brands have a better reputation as far as the maxi jet pumps go. I've had both and agree.

i think the cobalt brand are made in italy?

Cobalts are built using the old design. The new style MJs come with the parts to make them into circulation stlye pumps, but the old aftermarket MJ mod kits don't fit. They do fit on the Cobalts.
