Only use them on glass tanks. The principle behind the magic erasers is removal by abrasion.

When used on an acrylic or plastic tank the magic eraser will cause thousands of micro scratches which will make the tank have a hazy appearance.

BTW- I know this as I cleaned an acrylic protein skimmer with a magic eraser and gave it a nice frosted look.

I love the magic erasers and use them all the time. I just can't see using them inside the tank. Won't this hurt the tanks water balances or get the fish or corals sick?

The magic eraser uses no chemicals and is fine for the inside of the tank provided:
- it is unscented
- it has never been used outside of the tank

I just tried one on my grossly neglected planted tank, wish I had taken before and after shots. Amazing, I can now see into the tank again.
