Tyler I am confident that unless you have a similar brain cramp that I did you'll get great Algae Growth out of one. I'm seriously thinking about bringing it here to my office tank (which I'm not dosing anything) and seeing how it does on my 12g NanoCube.

As you stated the price is almost too good to be true.

Heck, I don't even have a tank with an algae problem... I really just wanna turn off my skimmer and GFO and throw some massive feeding at it just to see what happens! With the cost of GFO this thing could end up being worth well more than its weight in coral!

And if it performs half as well as it's supposed to, coupled with a skimmer and my regular water changes I feel like this could be a new chapter in my reefing career

My thoughts exactly! Talk about "Feeding as you like" LOL! I would imagine with good water quality and heavy feeding your fish and coral will be extremely well off

My HOG.5 showed up today, definitely a neat and simple piece of kit... Already have some ideas for a larger one if I see results =)

Seeded it up with some algae and have it running... Let's see this baby work!

I transferred mine to my office tank which not going through a carbon dosing regimen at all. It was clean as a whistle so the dosing has to be why. It will be easy to keep track of when I added it since it was August 1st.

I never noticed my cheap airpump was so loud until I put it onto my tank on my desk at work. I gotta know what's quieter than this one...it's a whisper but it's whispering through a mega-phone lol

After 1 week of UAS in my 12g NanoCube there is a slight greening of the screen (more than 5 weeks in my RSM but with Carbon Dosing). One thing I noticed today and it's still early to make any firm claims but I noticed a pair of "clump" of Turf Algae that were floating around my tank. I've never seen this before other than when I was cleaning the tank etc. It's possible it was just a coincidence but I wanted to make a note of it just in case.
