live rock mounting

Can someone provide me with their thoughts, experiences, tips etc for securing live rock when rockscaping

Gluing is fine and using zip ties...but

I'm trying to think of something that is strong but yet flexible to run through rock. For example, like a stretched out coat hanger - that type of wire. But something that won't be harmful to the tank...

Am I completely on the wrong page of thinking here....

Please - any thoughts !! :)

I've not seen that method used. I can tell you this... you don't want METAL in there for several reasons:

Chemical contamination
Corrosion
Invert Mortality (copper will kill them)

I've used plastic "pegs" made out of plastic coat hangers to "Peg" mine together. Check out my 90g chronicle.

I went to lowes and bought driveway reflector sticks and of couse cut the reflector part off(still pliable yet stonger than pvc) then drilled holes in the rock and used reef epoxy to secure them in just make sure whatever you use is cured and wont realease phos later on if you use block. I don't see any reason why you could use this vertical or horizonal.
