For heavy stuff (moving large rocks, etc.) I use this type:

Aquarium Maintenance & Cleaning: Heavy Duty Aqua Gloves

I find those too heavy and bulky to use for delicate things like attaching corals, or light work in the tank, so I use disposable nitrile home care gloves, unpowdered, with a rubberband around my wrist to keep the water out. My arm gets wet, but I use a towel for that (and newspapers on the floor). They look something like this:

Green - Ansell Touch-N-Tuff™ Nitrile Gloves - Disposable Nitrile Gloves - Gloves - Safety Supplies - Lab Safety Supply

I get mine in a box of 50 at K-Mart, Walmart or at my local pharmacy. The nitrile material is much tougher than latex or vinyl, although those unpowdered types can be used too, but they tear easier.

You're welcome Tim. I did that for quite a while too, but after a few times of getting bitten & stung by things I wear gloves now. :)
