Getting back to it

Hello All,

I am getting back into the hobby after 7 years. I see a lot has changed in lighting. I will be buying a 10 gal from a friend with LR and 2 clowns a nano protein skimmer and filter. I dont know what kind of filter as i haven't bought it yet. The light on it is an AI prime LED. So im gonna start off with that for now.

My goal is to buy a 40Gal breeder and add one of those Fiji cube AIO filter systems.
So my question is what kind of light would work on a 40gal? i would like to stay under $200 if possible.

Thanks in Advance

Welcome! I look forward to following your progress!

I am NOT an expert on lighting, but a place I might start is by looking at these two and seeing what you think.

http://a.co/grfEyjh : Fluval Marine and Reef 2.0

And

http://a.co/hKrXAD3 : Current USA Orbit Marine

I then generally just read the reviews and see what other options amazon or reviewers suggest. Both of those lights seem to get good reviews on Amazon, though.

To be clear, I’ve never used either of those and so I can’t reccomend. I just know about them because I’m looking into a second tank...

I was looking at this light here on amazon. I wanna try and grow some SPS&LPS also maybe an anemone. Since the 40gal is shallow i don't want to burn the corals. What do y'all think?

I have this exact LED light, actually 2 of them as my tank is 48x18xq18.
It's been a year now and I am very happy. Corals love them, they hang 15 inches above the tank and run 50% blue and 30% white. The quality appeared good, easy to use comes with remote and hanging kit. Some people don't like the Chinese black box as they are called but I am happy with whomever gives me the best light for the best price. Each channel is dimmable and comes with built in timer. Yup, that's all I need.
Happy!
