Dead cycling Shrimp got chopped up

I was working in my sump and the dead shrimp i was using to cycle with got sucked into the return pump and now its in a thousand little pieces. Will it still work for the cycle or should I add a new one?

It will still work great, as it is still there and rotting and stinking.....Just in smaller pieces. On a side note, there should be nothing gross/slimy/stinky to pick out when your cycle is done. The small pieces should just vanish.

well its actually hard to me to find any pieces, and it was a big shrimp.

+1 you should be good... how many weeks has it been since adding, you could always add another if needed, once the cycle finishes and you add a cuc, all will be gone overnight

I have read where others keep the shrimps in a bag of some kind, and remove it when the cycle is complete. I am a huge fan of just letting it be, and the new CUC will eat it....or else the tank will absorb it.
