Clam Parasite

My clam has what looks like a small starfish and two little white curly things on the shell. Is this bad?

No. Stars are just feeding off of the algae or biofilm on it's shell. Curly white shells are small feather dusters

ok cool thanks for the info! I thought those things might be dusters, they just dont have the feather plume on the top.

Those shells could also be snails that like to eat clams.
The best thing to do is post a picture for a proper ID.

As long as iits not a pyramid snail! Starfish are fine

Oh I had a bout with the dreaded pyramid snails thanks to a buddy giving me a clam.

If that's the case be prepared for a long drug out battle.

Thats why you got to always check your clam before they go in the tank. Check the bottom and scrob the shell!
