Branch Looking Object Next to my Brain

This just appeared this morning, it kind of looks like a worm casing perhaps but I don't see anything inside of it. The object appears to be hollow.

Vermetid maybe? The tube colors can be a light color too:

From the looks of yours it may be an old one with no worm in it anymore. Whatever it is, I'd probably break it off, as it may be irritating the brain.

I would lean toward Vermitid myself.

Instead of saying it popped up there look to see if it fell from above, if it is hollow then it could easily float down from somewhere not directly over it. And if it did break off from above the snail may still be alive in the remaining tube. But I also think you should remove it to keep it from pestering your brain coral

There's nothing above where it was discovered this morning. I think the BSJF found it and moved it when he was tidying up his burrow.
